Downtown Sioux Falls Criterium / South Dakota Criterium State Championships – Sioux Falls, SD

Background:
In its first year, the Downtown Sioux Falls Criterium will double as the South Dakota State Criterium Championship. A fast course in the heart of downtown will thrill spectators as racers navigate the streets around the century old buildings of historic Downtown Sioux Falls.

- Open events include USCF Categories 1, 2, 3, 4. (Separate medals awarded for Women 4.)
- State Championship Medals Awarded to top 3 South Dakota residents in each class who hold annual USCF license.
- *Juniors with annual USCF license receive free entry.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS:
ONLINE: https://www.sportsbaseonline.com and register online. It is fast, secure and the preferred method of registration by the race organization. Online registration closes at 9:00pm, Saturday, August 23, 2008.
DAY OF: Day of registration will be accepted in person at the venue, with an additional $5 fee. Registration will close 30 minutes prior to each event.
- Entry fee includes USAC $2.00 surcharge. Additional online registration fee will be applied.
- Riders must have USCF annual license OR purchase 1-day license.
- 1-day licenses will be available for purchase at race site ($10.00).
- Juniors and Kids registrations are free
- Riders may register for a second race for an additional $10.
GENERAL RACE RULES & INFORMATION
- All 2008 USCF rules are in effect.
- Events will be held rain or shine.
- Race number placement will be posted the day of the event.
- Helmets must be worn at all times while on the bike.
- Valid and current USCF license must be presented at rider check-in.
- Promoter reserves the right to cancel/combine events and prize lists as necessary.
- Prizes will only be awarded to top half of each category.
- Held under USCF Permit (Pending).
- All events will be “wheels in/wheels out.” Please make sure to identify your wheels properly. Promoter is not responsible for lost or stolen wheels.
DIRECTIONS
The race will be held in downtown Sioux Falls. If you are coming along I-29, exit at 12th Street (Exit 79) and go east for approximately 2 ½ miles (12th Street will curve into 11th Street). After Minnesota Avenue, you will proceed into the Downtown area. If you are coming from I-229, exit at 10th Street (Exit 6) and go west for approximately 1 ½ miles. After crossing the viaduct you will proceed into the downtown area. Parking will be available on-street and at other parking facilities including public parking at 9th and Phillips and 10th and Main.
COURSE DETAILS
The course consists of a completely closed 1 mile, 6 corner loop. The course starts on Main street and heads north before turning right on to 6th street for a block and turning left on Phillips Avenue continuing north for one block taking another left on 5th Street curving into Dakota Avenue. On Dakota Avenue riders will head south 4 blocks to 9th street, with the last two blocks consisting of a climb before taking a left for one block with a left on Main Avenue for a downhill sprint to the start/finish line.
